Doug Lacey's Basement Systems Case Studies: Fallen Support Beam on a mobile home foundation
Challenge
This customer was interested in buying a mobile home in Lethbridge Alberta. When she arrived at the mobile home park to look at it, she was told that the east side of the home was sinking because the middle support beam had fallen. The previous owners had attempted to fix it, but the inspector said the DIY fix was not adequate enough. The unit is sloping down, causing the floors to be uneven. This customer was so excited to purchase this unit, but knew the foundation repair must happen before so she could move in with peace of mind.
Solution
Our solution was to install our SmartJack® structural support system. These are commonly used for crawlspace support when the floors start sagging due to lack of support. They are quick and easy to installed in limited-access areas, making them the perfect solution for this home. The SmartJack® system will provide solid support where the support beam had fallen, allowing the home to be leveled again permanently.
