Doug Lacey's Basement Systems Case Studies: Replacing a Crumbling Basement Floor in Red Deer, AB
Challenge
The residence was built in 1985 in the city of Red Deer, Alberta. For years the homeowner has noticed that the basement floor had been deteriorating and crumbling. The homeowners decided to add living space to the basement of the home. In December of 2016 the journey to reclaim the basement of this home began with an email to Doug Lacey's Basement Systems. The homeowner's major concern in this situation was that the floor had but all deteriorated to rubble.
Solution
Doug Lacey's Basement Systems broke out, and poured a whole new floor in this basement including adding a CleanSpace® vapor barrier below the rebar prior to the concrete pour. The installation was very effective in not only fixing the crumbling floor, but also to bring back piece of mind for this homeowner. They were 'extremely pleased' with the results, as well as the efficiency and cleanliness of the Basement Systems crew. When the Production Manager came on site to inspect the pour of the floor, the homeowner took this opportunity to express how impressed he was with Shaddy’s crew, and how professional and courteous they were throughout the duration of the project. From placing drop clothes on the floors leading to the basement, to protecting the walls to against concrete splatter with the pour happened by temporarily applying plastic sheeting, no detail was overlooked. The project took a total of two days to complete from start to finish.
A quote from the homeowner: "May 3rd the movers come to move us back into the basement! We will have our house finally back! It feels and looks like a new house! Thanks for Basement Systems part in this transformation!"
