This homeowner in Southwest Calgary, Alberta had encountered issues with water entering the basement of their home. The homeowner had also tested their home for Radon and unfortunately found out that they had high levels. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that has become the second-leading cause of lung cancer, second only to cigarette smoke. Most soils contain uranium that, over time, decays to produce radium and polonium. Eventually, polonium is released with the radon, which creates a high toxicity level in the air and water that it infuses. Looking for a permanent solution and protect their home investment, they contacted the experts at Doug Lacey's Basement Systems.
A System Design Specialist was able to assess the situation and provide the homeowners with a FREE, no obligation quote designed specifically to address all of the homeowners concerns. Our Production Team was then able to come to the home and install our SuperSump® sump pump system. A full-featured system, SuperSump® includes the best components available including a top-rated 1/3HP Zoeller® pump which is designed for reliability & high-volume pumping. From there the system will discharge any water entering the sump pump basin to the exterior of the home, passing through our patented IceGuard® system, an anti-freeze fitting that is installed outside of your home and ejects water away from the foundation in the event that the sump pump discharge lines freeze or become clogged. Finally, the discharge line has been buried below-grade out of plain sight ending off with a the LawnScape™ Outlet. The LawnScape™ Outlet is a pipe buried from the downspout to a special LawnScape™ outlet that lets the water out onto the surface while camouflaging the end of the pipe. The lid comes off for easily cleaning, minimizing maintenance for your home.
To address the Radon issue, our Radon Mitigation Specialist was able to install a sub-slab Radon Gas Mitigation System. The system was tied into the homeowner's newly installed SuperSump® sump pump basin. This mitigation system draws the gas from beneath the basement floor slab and vents it outside of the home.
This homeowner can now rest easily knowing that their has the best solution in place for this situation.
