Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Homeowner's Basement and Crawlspace in Need of a Solution in Duchess, AB
This homeowner in Duchess, Alberta had encountered a few problems with their home. The problems that they had encountered was water entering their basement, moisture within their crawlspace, floor joists shifting, and High Levels of Radon Gas. In search for the best possible solution, this homeowner had contacted the experts at Doug Lacey's Basement Systems.
A System Design Specialist was able to assess the situation and provide the homeowners with a FREE, no obligation quote designed specifically to address all of the homeowners' concerns. Our Production Team was then able to then come to the home to install our SuperSump® sump pump system. A full-featured system, SuperSump® includes the best components available, including a top-rated 1/3HP Zoeller® pump, designed for reliability & high-volume pumping. From there, the system will discharge any water entering the sump pump basin to the exterior of the home by passing through our patented IceGuard® system, an anti-freeze fitting that is installed outside of your home and ejects water away from the foundation in the event that the sump pump discharge lines freeze or become clogged. Finally, the discharge line has been buried below-grade out, of plain sight, ending off with a Bubbler Pot away from the home, installed flush with the grass on the lawn. The Bubbler Pot is designed in this way to make it easier to service and the design allows the homeowner to tend to their yard without the discharge line getting in the way.
In order to address the moisture within the basement and crawlspace, our Production Team was able to come to the the home to install our CleanSpace® crawl space vapor barrier encapsulation to prevent moisture from passing through the floors. This durable liner will allow for servicemen to use the space without damage, while transforming the crawl space into a usable storage space. From there, the Production Team had installed our SmartJack® Crawl Space Support Jacks mounted with PowerBrace™ Support Beams. The SmartJack® systems are designed to be installed in tight conditions. Made with galvanized steel for corrosion resistance, it can support vertical loads exceeding 60,000 lbs. The adjustable design of our crawl space jack system means that sagging floors cannot only be stabilized; they can also be restored to their original position in many cases.
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that has become the second-leading cause of lung cancer, second only to cigarettes. Most soils contain uranium that, over time, decays to produce radium and polonium. Eventually, polonium is released with the radon, which creates a high toxicity level in the air and water that it infuses. Our Radon Mitigation Specialist was able to install a sub-slab Radon Gas Mitigation System. The system is tied into the homeowner's existing sump system by replacing their sump basin lid with one of our own. This mitigation system draws the gas from beneath the basement floor slab and vents it outside of the home.
This homeowner can now rest easy knowing that their home is fully protected against and has the best solution in place for their situation.
