This homeowner in Southeast Calgary, Alberta had issues with water in their basement. Living near a river they knew they had to get someone out to take a look and provide options for repair. In researching for a good waterproofing company in Calgary, they came across Doug Lacey's Basement Systems who had great reviews from previous customers!
A System Design Specialist was able to visit the home, assess the situation and provide him with a FREE, no obligation quote. One of our Production Foreman then went to the home to get the job done. A 6' sump pump was installed on the exterior of the home (specific to the quote and the homeowners needs) and then to the exterior piping an IceGuard® system was installed, which is an anti-freeze fitting that ejects water away from the foundation in the event that the sump pump discharge lines freeze or become clogged. A 6' sump pump is used in this situation because they had a walk-out basement which means the furnace vents go through the floor; the plenum goes through the basement floor and then redistributes the heat underneath the concrete slab, in this case what typically happens the tin starts to rust and water breaches into the plenum so our solution is to provide a 6' sump to get underneath the plenum to redirect the water to the sump pump. The crews would not normally dig up and place the discharge pipe in the ground when there is snow, but in this case in the morning there was no snow then as they were working through the day we so happened to get a few centimeters!
The homeowner is very happy the crew was able to complete the work, and so are we!
