Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Clean Air Solutions Installed in NE Calgary, AB
This homeowner in Calgary, Alberta contacted us concerned about high levels of Radon Gas found in the home. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that has become the second-leading cause of lung cancer, second only to cigarette smoke. Most soils contain uranium that, over time, decays to produce radium and polonium. Eventually, polonium is released with the radon, which creates a high toxicity level in the air and water that it infuses. In search of the best solution to address their concern, and protect their health & home, the homeowners contacted the experts at Doug Lacey's Basement Systems.
A System Design Specialist was able to visit the homeowner, assess the situation, and provide the homeowners with a FREE, no obligation quote designed specific to address all of their concerns. From there our Radon Mitigation Specialist was able to install a sub-slab Radon Gas Mitigation System which draws the gas from beneath the basement floor slab and vent it outside of the home. A SuperSump® sump pump system was also installed with the Radon Gas Mitigation System. A full-featured system, SuperSump® includes the best components available including a top-rated 1/3HP Zoeller® pump is designed for reliability & high-volume pumping. From there the system will discharge any water entering the sump pump basin to the exterior of the home passing through our patented IceGuard® system, an anti-freeze fitting that is installed outside of your home and ejects water away from the foundation in the event that the sump pump discharge lines freeze or become clogged.
Since this homeowners main priority was to clean the air in which he and his family breathe on the daily, our design specialist also recommended one of our Breathe EZ Filters. The Breathe EZ is a carbon-infused electronic air cleaner. If you want to protect your family from indoor air pollution and save money on your energy bills, the Breath EZ Air Cleaner is an excellent way to clean the air of your home!
Radon and Sump Pump
A hole is drilled into the slab, to create a suction point (sometimes more than one suction point is needed). The radon gas is vented through a PVC pipe that is connected to the hole. The pipe can be installed through the house or outside. An airtight lid is used with all of our sump pump installations which keeps odors and humidity out while protecting your sump from debris from the basement floor. Rubber grommets around all pipes and wires help maintain the airtight lid and also help to keep all PVC pipes steady and quiet.
